A classic red-brick house located in a quiet suburb on the Northern Beaches hosts the beginning of a beautiful bond between two families. Through SSI Housing and the generosity of its owner, the granny flat has become home to a newly-arrived refugee family of four from Syria.

A group of newly arrived young people from Syria and Iraq learned how to keep themselves and their friends safe in the Australian surf on a recent outing to Manly Beach.

Over 200 young refugees have spent a day developing the fundamental skills to successfully settle in Australia at SSI’s E3 Youth Forum, a day of workshops and activities held at the Refugee Welcome Centre in Callan Park earlier this month.

The SSI Community Kitchen at Auburn Centre for Community on April 19, was a combined celebration of Tamil New Year and Easter.

The delight, pride and gratitude were palpable when recipients of the Settlement Services International (SSI) Allianz Australia Refugee Scholarships were acknowledged during a multicultural afternoon tea in Bankstown on April 12.

A report to be released on Thursday March 23 finds evidence that, with the right support, refugee entrepreneurs provide significant economic benefits to Australia. The report, From Refugee to Entrepreneur in Three Years, looks at the existing and potential contribution of refugee entrepreneurs to the Australian economy and society.
