New South Wales Settlement Partnership
The New South Wales Settlement Partnership (NSP) was established in 2015 as a way for organisations with a history in settlement service delivery to work collaboratively to address the objectives of the Department of Home Affairs’ Settlement Engagement and Transition Support (SETS) program.
The consortium evolved to include different organisations, with a central aim being to support all partners to grow in their service delivery, probity and governance.
The consortium came to a natural conclusion in early 2024 when the SETS contract re-tender presented an opportunity for NSP partners to forge an independent path forward, supported by the knowledge and skills gained in the consortium’s nine-year tenure.
Below you will find many useful resources developed through the NSP during the period between 2015 – 2024.

The settlement of migrants and refugees in regional areas has many benefits: it can sustain and grow the population base, bring about economic opportunities and create more vibrant and cohesive communities.

Many migrants, being new to the community, need more social support to help them build relationships, particularly if they have not interacted with people outside their own cultural group.

This document outlines the key standards developed by the NSP for good governance and best practices that demonstrate each standard in action. These standards can apply to the community as well as to settlement providers in their engagement with community groups or associations and are supplemented by practical examples and case studies.

The purpose of this toolkit is to enable NSP Partners to host local conversations, and listen to and support clients in sharing their experience of settlement.
