SSI a finalist in the Human Rights Awards

SSI initiatives such as Playtime have been recognised by the Australian Human Rights Commission.

SSI CEO Violet Roumeliotis said she was proud that SSI was named as a finalist for one of the most prestigious human rights awards in Australia. “Even as a finalist, I’m just so delighted that our work in supporting vulnerable people to reach their full potential through our initiatives has been recognised by the Human Rights Commission.”

The other three finalists in the category are Refugee Advocacy and Casework Service (RACS), No FGM Australia (which aims to stop female genital mutilation in Australia), and Transgender Victoria (which works to achieve justice, equity and quality health and community services for transgender people).

The winning organisation will be announced on December 10, 2014, at a ceremony at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney.
