Media releasesSSI brings its experience to disability service delivery in Sydney and South West Sydney
From July 1, 2020, Settlement Services International (SSI), in partnership with the NDIA, began delivering Local Area Coordination (LAC) services for the NDIS across two districts in NSW.
Through the LAC, SSI will apply its person-centred approach to support people with disability, their families and carers to pursue their goals, exercise choice and control, engage with the NDIS, and connect with community support networks.
SSI’s LAC support services are being rolled out over 14 local government areas in Sydney (Ashfield, Burwood, Canada Bay, Leichhardt, Marrickville, Strathfield, Sydney) and South West Sydney (Bankstown, Camden, Campbelltown, Fairfield, Liverpool, Wingecarribee, Wollondilly).
SSI Director of LAC services, Ben Fioramonte, said the organisation’s extensive experience in delivering disability support programs was key to the successful roll-out of the LAC.
“SSI could not have achieved this significant feat without its strong community ties, industry expertise and a solid reputation established through the successful delivery of initiatives such as Ability Links and Future Ability,” said Mr Fioramonte.
“Since these programs commenced in 2014 and 2015 respectively, over 25,000 people across diverse communities in NSW have received support and information helping them to achieve social and economic inclusion.”
While both Ability Links and Future Ability programs ceased on June 30, 2020, Mr Fioramonte is delighted that many valuable staff members from each program have transitioned into roles within the LAC.
“The success of these programs is largely attributed to the hard work of our skilled and dedicated staff,” he said. “I’m thrilled that we were able to retain their skill-sets and passion through a number of different support and operational positions within the LAC.”
SSI LAC offices are now in the following locations:
- Ashfield
- Bankstown
- Bowral
- Campbelltown
- Liverpool
